NOT JUST FOR VETERANS

The American Legion Family is not just for U.S. military members and veterans. If you are a family member of or a direct descendant from a U.S. military member, you too could join The American Legion family. At Lowe's Grove Post 416, we have three different branches of the Legion Family you can belong to:

-
The American Legion. This is the part of the family most individuals think of when referring to The American Legion. If you have served at least one day of federal active duty in the United States Armed Forces since December 7, 1941, and have been honorably discharged or are still serving - you are eligible for membership in The American Legion. For those who served in the Guard or Reserve, activation under Title 10 orders for at least one day is required to be eligible.
-
The American Legion Auxiliary. You are eligible to join the Auxiliary If you are a grandmother, mother, sister, spouse, and direct and adopted female descendants of any U.S. military member who served on active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States of America between April 6, 1917 to November 11, 1918, and any time after December 7, 1941. Female service members and veterans can also join the Auxiliary if they so choose.
-
Sons of The American Legion. All male descendants, adopted sons, and stepsons of members of The American Legion, and such male descendants of veterans who died in service during World War I, and December 7, 1941 are eligible for membership in the Sons of The American Legion. Many members of The American Legion who are descendants of former U.S. servicemembers can also join the Sons if they so choose.
